Welcome to another exciting school year at St. Teresa of Avila School. On behalf of our staff, I am thrilled to welcome you back! We have missed our school community so much!
This school year will be different as none of us have attended school during a global pandemic. While we do not know what the future holds, we do know that we have to put our faith and trust in God. This year’s faith theme is very fitting, Trust in the Lord with all your heart. With the strong plan Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has put in place, and with the support of one another, we will navigate together this “new normal”.
Our school is blessed with a caring, talented staff who are committed to creating opportunities for students to share their wonderful gifts. Included in our community is our parish, Sacred Heart. Under the guidance and leadership of our parish priest, Fr. Jan, the students will have the opportunity to grow and learn about our faith through the sacraments and our daily prayer life. Together we can provide our children a quality Catholic education and bring promise to this year’s division’s theme: Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
As always we are grateful for the support from our parents. While your involvement may have to look different this year, we encourage you to continue to attend our monthly School Advisory Council Meetings where you will learn more about our school, the events that are happening during the school year as well as build a strong connection with other parents.
Dear Lord, as we begin this new school year,
we gather once again as your community of believers.
We thank you for the energy and the spirit
that you renewed in us through the summer months.
We thank you for the time to enjoy our family and
friends and to reflect on what is important in our lives.
Lord, please help our students, families and staff adjust to our “new normal” of teaching and learning during a pandemic.
Please join us in prayer for those who are sick and suffering.
Pray for our children’s social and emotional needs as well as their health and the health of their families and our school staff.
Despite the challenges we are facing, let this year be marked by enthusiasm and love
with the inspiration of your Spirit, we may continue to grow in our faith.
Help us to fulfill Your hope for us with honest intentions and works of faith.
Let us be gentle with ourselves and bring laughter, joy and love to others.
We ask this in your name. Amen.
Mrs. N. Zimmerman
